I have big feet.

I feel like painting. I took out all my canvas and my art supplies are nice and organized now. They won't be like that much longer. I didn't know I had so many tubes of paint, I forgot my brother bought me a set of big oil tubes for my birthday. They've been sitting there in a box for months. Time to use them! My least favorite medium is watercolor and my favorite one is oil.
The other day I went to Barnes & Noble to buy books for class and I ended up buying art books too. They were having a sale and I bought 5 of them. I nearly had a heart attack when I got the total but I signed up for their membership thing and saved a few bucks so that made me feel a little better.

I also subscribed to a couple of knitting magazines.. haha. I bought some DPN's to knit some socks, this will be my first attempt at knitting socks. I bet the first pair will come out crooked but who cares, I'll still wear them. I didn't know Vanna White from Wheel of Fortune had her own yarn. I thought that was pretty funny.\

Meet the newest member of the family. The dogs have welcomed him into their pack and they all take turns kitty-sitting him. He's 6 weeks old, fluffy and so playful. "Blue"

Why

This isn't the kind of news you want to hear 5 minutes before heading out to work. I heard the phone ring but I figured it could wait. Then it stopped ringing and started all over again. When I realized it was my best friend I knew something was wrong. She gave me the news. I worked alone tonight and I didn't want to be there. I tried to keep busy but I just couldn't help but wonder.. Why did he do it?

Best friend and I talked until my phone battery died. It was 3am here, 10am her time. It doesn't make any sense. Why?? His poor family. He's going to be missed by so many people. Did he not know this?

Oh.My.God.I'm.Twenty.Eight.

I've been at this new job for 4+ months. I can come up with dozens of reason to quit but I won't! I like my coworkers.. minus one or two and the job is pretty cool.

My brother and I (more like.. just my Brother because he did most of the work) built my puppy a doghouse. I had it all planned and sketched out, I figured 24" would be plenty of height for him, but my brother ignored my plans and built it to 36". Thanks to this I can actually fit inside my dogs house. Sometimes I chill in there with him and we laugh at the cat, and sometimes the cat joins us and we all laugh at the other dog. I had to test his house first to make sure it was comfortable. It's really cozy and he loves it! I wonder what the neighbors think when they see me crawling into it. I bet they think I'm crazy. But then again, they've been our neighbors for years so they MUST know by now that I really am crazy.

I'd like to build a toy box for his doggy toys. That's the next project. And a cat house to be added onto the doghouse. Right now they sleep together but I think if I build the cat a house on top of the doghouse she'll like it better.

---
I turned 28 on Monday, boo woo. This morning a coworker told me that I don't look my age. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing. He thought I was 23.

Thank you for the happy birthday wishes!! I celebrated it a day early on Fathers Day with my Papa. It was a good birthday.

I've got to take time out to read up on the new blogger features. I know there's a privacy thing now that enables me to post private password protected entries, but I need to set it. Gimme a few days I'll get it done this weekend! <3

Into a sky so blue

"Hands Held High"

Turn my mike up louder I got to say something
Light weights step to the side when we come in

Feel it in your chest the syllables get pumping
People on the street they panic and start running

Words on loose leaf sheet complete coming
I jump in my mind and summon the rhyme, I'm dumping

Healing the blind I promise to let the sun in
Sick of the dark ways we march to the drum and

Jump when they tell us that they wanna see jumping
Fuck that I wanna see some fists pumping

Risk something, take back what's yours
Say something that you know they might attack you for

Cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before
Like it's stupid standing for what I'm standing for

Like this war's really just a different brand of war
Like it doesn't cater the rich and abandon poor

Like they understand you in the back of the jet
When you can't put gas in your tank

These fuckers are laughing their way to the bank and cashing the check
Asking you to have compassion and have some respect

For a leader so nervous in an obvious way
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay

And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day
In their living room laughing like "what did he say?"

[Chorus]
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen
[End Chorus]

In my living room watching but I am not laughing
Cause when it gets tense I know what might happen

World is cold the bold men take action
Have to react or get blown into fractions

Ten years old it's something to see
Another kid my age drug under a jeep

Taken and bound and found later under a tree
I wonder if he had thought the next one could be me

Do you see the soldiers they're out today
They brush the dust with bullet proof vests away

It's ironic at times like this you pray
But a bomb blew the mosque up yesterday

There's bombs in the buses, bikes, roads
Inside your market, your shops, your clothes

My dad he's got a lot of fear I know
But enough pride inside not to let that show

My brother had a book he would hold with pride
A little red cover with a broken spine

On the back, he hand-wrote a quote inside
When the rich wage war it's the poor who die

Meanwhile, the leader just talks away
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay

And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day
both scared and angry like "what did he say?"

[Chorus]
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen

With hands held high into a sky so blue
As the ocean opens up to swallow you

With hands held high into a sky so blue
As the ocean opens up to swallow you

With hands held high into a sky so blue
As the ocean opens up to swallow you

With hands held high into a sky so blue
As the ocean opens up to swallow you

With hands held high into a sky so blue
As the ocean opens up to swallow you

With hands held high into a sky so blue
As the ocean opens up to swallow you

One year later

The first anniversary of my Grandmother's death is coming up. The constellation of Orion takes me back to my favorite memory of us. Sister and I would lay on Grandma's roof staring at the stars and videotaping Mars. Grandma in her fragile state would muster up the energy to climb up the spiral staircase just to join us. She'd point out Orion and we'd record her singing. We'd stay up really late looking at old photographs and she'd tell us stories about Grandpa.
Those are the days that I remember. Hasta Pronto mi viejita linda.

Desde el techo

My grandma was a wise old soul
Took me by the hand not long ago
Said, "Son, what's your hurry, boy slow it down
Taste the wild honey, listen to the sound
Of the wind that's blowin' through the trees
Rivers flowin' to the sea
Yeah they're all headin' home just like you and me
Life's for livin' child, can't you see?"

These are the days we will remember
These are the times that won't come again
The highest of flames become an ember
And you gotta live 'em while you can

These are the days we will remember
These are the days we will remember
These are the days we will remember
These are the days we will remember

So take 'em by the hand, they're yours and mine
Take 'em by the hand and live your life
Take 'em by the hand don't let 'em all fly by
C'mon, C'mon now

Ooo days go by
Yeah, just like a hand out the window wavin' in the wind as the cars go by
Days go by

Hold a true friend with both your hands. - Nigerian Proverb

Internet:
I found one of my mother's childhood friends online. We live in Texas, her friend now lives in Colorado, but their friendship began many many many years ago in Mexico. I hear the friend has pictures of my mother as a child and that she has a daughter my age. I can't wait to meet them.

Doghouse:
I found a pretty moth on the doghouse. I picked it up and noticed tiny green eggs under it. I put it back and took a few pictures. Isn't she pretty?

Giant Leopard Moth (Hypercompe scribonia)

Cat's mouth:
I found a dead lizard in my cat's mouth. Here it is. I left it's body on the doghouse because I wanted to see it dry up but this mornings rain washed it away... Watch your step.

How 'bout them apples?

Seems like the girls didn't need the radio airplay afterall. They won FIVE Grammy's!
Local country radio stations refused to air Dixie Chicks after the whole "anti-bush" incident from 2003.

Yet local radio stations still play and promote music by R Kelly (R. Kelly was indicted in Chicago for 21 counts of having sex with a minor, which were later reduced to soliciting a minor for child pornography, seven counts of videotaping the acts, and seven counts of producing child pornography.) and Tejano singer Joe Lopez y Grupo Mazz. (...A grand jury indicted Lopez on charges of indecency with a child and sexual aggravated child assault.).

Sidney Sheldon

Author Sidney Sheldon has passed away. Over the years I've collected many of his books. He will always be one of my favorites.
